port / re-posting

I am using zonealarm and it keeps blocking access to my UDP port 44767 from different ips the whole time I am on-line. This happens too often like 20-25 times a day.

I've tried to find out what this port is assigned for but couldn't.

Does anyone have any idea for what it is used for?

Re: port / re-posting

Resolve the IPs, might be a service of some kind for a program you're running.

Yes I am resolving the IPs..

It doesn't seem to be a service of any kind for any of the programs I am running..

Yet when I configured zonealarm, it asked me if I wanted icq to act as a server and I chose no.

Could it possibly be related to that?

Re: port / re-posting

ICQ constantly sends UDP data, although from my sketchy memory I thought it only used UDP on 4000 [or a port you specify] for server communication.I think that "ICQ act as a server" thing is for ActiveList [if you're the host] which I have never used, and hence have no idea about. But I doubt it's that... [unless you're an ActiveList host]What domain is the data coming from?

Re: port / re-posting

Your problem could be this, your zonealarm is set to block traffic going out as well as in, alright you know that already. The problem is I believe (and deej can definitely help you on this among others) but ports on the client side are dynamic, meaning one day icq might use 4000 for outgoing the next connection your machine may assign it to 4010. Peace, BROM

Re: port / re-posting

No I am not an Active List host on ICQ and I haven't used that feature either..

The data is coming from different hosts, and different domains all the time.
