Re: help me hide
Well I saw a program for unix wich does that job, but not for win9x /NT (i think bill won't allow it *s*)
Isn't hiding your IP enough?

Re: help me hide
good point, if my ip is spoofed do i really need to hide my mac address? i don't know. i guess that's why i'm new. according to info-x's page my machine is badly configured if the mac is showing, so not being one to do things half-assed, i'd like to know. thanks

Re: help me hide
Your mac shouldn't really be showing, theoretically if you disable File & Print sharing on win9x, it don't show no more. Try it and let me know if it works. The only major problem if your MAC addie is showing is that this usually means someone can start a netbios session with your computer and access any file shares u have.

Re: help me hide
Oh don't worry put a portblocker/firewall on it (may choose for a firewall because of the ip-filtering options), I thought you needed a way to bypass a proxy/wingate.
So no need for mac-spoofing =)

Re: help me hide -> info you need
thanks guys. pulled all the shares and disabled sharing but it didn't exactly work. don't sweat it, i'll do some research on it and see if if i can't get it later on my own now that i know where to start. didn't really need the files shared anyway - i don't know who would want to steal some porn and mp3's. i have looked into firewalls befoer but never found one for a tcp/ip lan connection, just dial up. let me know if you can point me to one offhand. thanks again.

ACK!
That firewall seriously sucks... I had it for all of half an hour before I decided to remove it...It just didn't seem to be customisable enough. Unless I was sitting in "dummy" mode where it does everything for you, I couldn't even state whether I wanted a connection allowed or not. Unless it was made by a program that ZoneAlarm recognised, it blocked it. And this "High/Medium/Low" security thing... ack...I'm sticking with Conseal where I can write my own rules, and block/allow exactly what I want [almost]. It's more of a hassle, but it's better in the long run, I reckon.
