Netbuster

Hi guys, while hanging in a chat room, it happened that someone tried to pass through my Netbuster and get into my pc. The intruderwas disconnected immediately, of course, butI got the following commands in the logfile:0.33.50: Received the 'force password' command0.33.50: Unknown command [word]0.33.50: Unknown command []0.33.50: Unknown command []I'm wondering which kind of program the intruder used to try to force the password, was ita simple trojan or some more serious stuff? Moreover,I'd like to know if there's any goodURL with reliable informations dealing withNetbuster and its supposed vulnerability. Is it true that there are newer versions forthis interesting program?

Re: Netbuster

Not to be dead weight but you should just run a search on a search engine

Re: Netbuster

I'm pretty sure Netbuster only fooled kids into thinking you were compromised. Of course, if the program couldn't bind the port, then you had something running, most probably the server, on that port.Netbuster had some serious bugs in it though, which were exploited in a tool by silicosis called Netbuster Kill. You were able to flood the Netbuster user with alert windows, kill Kernel32.dll, or just kill Netbuster itself [from memory].

Re: Netbuster

for some reason u seem to have a rather unusual attachment to the general concept that anything done wrong or a misconception on the part of someone is in some way or another linked to "Children" or "Kids"... I've noticed that quite alot in many of ur replies....[FallenAngel].. u having an adult complex or something?... ;-)

Re: Netbuster

Thanks for your info!

Just the last question: is there any way(for the intruder) to get to know whether I had

Netbuster installed, or was it just a guess?

Re: Netbuster

I'm sure netbuster leaves some sort of flags on your ports.

Re: Netbuster

*cries* My first and only firewall has been Conseal PC Firewall... I can't understand why people need to use these fire-and-forget automated deals...C'mon... I don't know dick about security, and I can use a rule-based firewall. Therefore the average schmoe should be able to work it out too...With ones like Lockdown2000, BlackICE, etc, there is too much of a tendency to become complacent, and you don't learn anything either.
