netbios
why would i get a host not found error runnig the nbtstat command when I know port 139 is open because I can run a DoS attack against that port? ........of course using harmless size and quantities of packets.......... |

If you're using an IP as target, use "nbtstat -A" [uppercase A]If you're using a hostname, use "nbtstat -a" [lowercase A]That might solve the problem. |

Try ping the host to see if he's alive, if thats not it then maby the router is filtering the packets. |

just because 139 is open, doesn't mean an nbtstat will get you any info, just that you are more liley to be able to. 'Host not found' doesnt really mean that the host wasn't found, just that no Netbios info could be retrieved. TheBarman |
